Product Description:
White fused alumina was obtained by the crystallization of the molten Bayer alumina feedstock in an electric arc furnace. It is commonly called white fused aluminum oxide and may also be called white corundum. Fused White Alumina is a high purity fused aluminum oxide. It achieves its white color as it is lower in impurities than brown or pink fused aluminum oxide.
Key Properties:
- hardness (9.0 on the Mohs scale), It is second only to diamond and silicon carbide
- chemical composition that typically surpasses 99% purity
- White Fused Alumina (WFA) exhibits a high melting point, typically above 2000°C
- higher friability than brown fused aluminum oxide
Applications:
- raw material in abrasive tools, blasting, lapping, polishing, and grinding
- refractories and ceramic shapes laminates due to chemical stability, high melting point
- grinding wheels, sandpaper, blasting media, metal preparation, laminates, coatings, lapping, polishing, grinding
- sandblasting applications, foundry industry, catalyst supports
