Job description

We are excited to be searching for a proactive and pragmatic Data, Knowledge and Learning Officer to join our team.

Your role.

The Data, Knowledge & Learning Officer supports the effective functioning of the Knowledge Team by providing hands-on capacity across data, knowledge and learning activities.

The role helps ensure that data and information are organised, coordinated and followed up across systems and initiatives, that learning and engagement activities are well supported, and that the team can deliver on its objectives in a consistent and reliable way. Within this role, you will contribute strongly to organisational learning, data governance and overall learning and knowledge management by supporting day-to-day operations, projects and coordination across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support planning, coordination and follow-up of Knowledge Team initiatives across data, knowledge and learning.
  • Support data-related activities across the Knowledge Team, including master data management across departments and systems (e.g. finance, HR, MEL) and basic data cleaning and structuring tasks.
  • Maintain and apply standards, quality approaches and simple governance processes related to data, information, learning and knowledge management
  • Coordinate colleagues’ work on data systems and analytics through preparation, documentation and quality checks.
  • Organise and support learning activities, communities of practice, events and internal sessions.
  • Support the development, update and disseminate training materials, guidance notes and practical resources on data, knowledge and learning, including presentations and infographics.
  • Liaise and support engagement with colleagues across departments (M&E, IT, HR, finance) programmes and outcome teams to track progress, gather inputs and ensure timely follow-up and documentation
  • Support the operationalisation of IDHs new ways of working, processes and practices by documenting, communicating and embedding them across the organisation, with hands on support and practical examples
  • Experiment with and promote responsible use of digital and AI tools to strengthen data, knowledge and learning activities.

Who you are:

As a Data, Knowledge and Learning Officer, you are a hands-on, adaptable professional with a strong interest in how data, knowledge and learning can drive real-world impact. You thrive in dynamic environments, balancing multiple tasks and priorities across different workstreams with clarity and efficiency. Whether supporting day-to-day data governance or helping teams make sense of complex information, you bring a service-oriented mindset and a strong sense of structure.

You’re someone who doesn’t just manage data, you help people use it. With strong analytical skills, you translate fragmented insights into practical, accessible formats that colleagues across the organisation can understand and apply. You enjoy making messy information clearer, asking the right questions, and finding ways to improve how we learn, share, and communicate.

You have a natural ability to explain and clarify, supporting colleagues with varied levels of digital and data literacy. You’re collaborative, comfortable working across teams with different expectations, and confident enough to work independently when needed. You take initiative, anticipate next steps, and bring a pragmatic, growth-oriented approach to everything you do.

Whether you’re a candidate ready to grow into a cross-organisational role or an early-career professional with energy, curiosity and a proactive mindset, you’re excited to join a new team that’s building something meaningful from the ground up, and you’re ready to grow with it.

What you bring:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. social sciences, economics, development studies, data-related or interdisciplinary fields).
  • Experience with research processes (e.g. fieldwork, data collection, analysis and synthesis) is an advantage.
  • Strong interest in IDH’s mission and work, with curiosity to understand how the organisation functions.
  • Analytical and structured way of working; comfortable working with data and information without necessarily wanting to become a full-fledged analyst or data scientist.
  • Strong coordination, communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience developing clear presentations and materials (e.g. PowerPoint, Microsoft tools); ability to translate complex ideas into accessible formats.
  • Experience with visual or design tools (e.g. Canva, simple infographics) is an advantage.
  • Interest in digital tools, data systems and AI, with willingness to experiment and learn by doing.
